Laugh Your Head Off! is a storehouse of interesting idioms that are presented through hilarious jokes, fascinating fables and rib-tickling fairy tales.
What is an idiom? It is a group of words that has a different meaning from the meanings of the individual words. For example, “over the moon” is not at all connected with the moon; it means “very happy” or “delighted”.
This book is invaluable as a teaching tool. It is also a source of amusement for the reader — a laugh a minute!
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Oh Teik Theam has an abiding passion for writing. He is the author of Idiomania!, which has appeared on several weekly and monthly best-seller lists. From 2002 to 2013, he wrote many articles for the now sadly defunct Mind Our English column of The Star newspaper.
After retiring from handling numbers at the bank, he now moves to new writing ‘destinations’ using GPS (grammar, punctuation, style). He likes this quotation by Spanish playwright and novelist Enrique Jardiel Poncela: “When something can be read without effort, great effort has gone into its writing.”
Besides writing, he likes watching classic movies. His favourite film stars are James Stewart and Natalie Wood.
